But check the price a couple times before you buy changes almost to be cheaper Monday-Wednesday. About 30 dollars more on Thursday or Friday. I have 2 of these in my Chaparral 244 Xtreme, and one Optima DP24. They behave about the same. The Optima battery is about 6 pounds lighter. Never top off, boat sits for long periods, drain it down w stereo, don't keep charger on it, typical stuff we all do to our batteries. Been great so far, never failed. Update: 6/20/19, still going strong, I do trickle charge it (and my other battery) now, but it's been great for 5 years. I was frustrated by how quickly the charge would drain when not in use, even when not connected.

Almost too hot to touch. Is this normal. I dont really know too much about the cooling on my particular model. Is it supposed to be blowing air out the bottom? Is there some setting i should be adjusting maybe? 404 Posts 07-12-2014 London 346 Signins 5196 Page Views Posts: 404 Registered: 07-12-2014 Location: London Views: 5196 Message 2 of 12 Re: y510p getting very hot during gaming 2014-07-15, 10:41 AM And this is where u regret buying the lenovo y510p. Lenovo has blocked users accessing the fans in the bios, the fans are set to about 55% of what they can actually do. For a gaming rig this is the most stupidest thing they could of done. There is people out there cutting the brown wire from the fan to the mobo which makes the fan run 100% all the time, just to get some cooling.

Why do not give more serious users an option to have the fans runing faster and cool down the system better? --------------------------------- Lenovo Y510P, GT755M SLI FHD, I7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM, M550 512GB, Win8. 1 Message 4 of 12 2014-07-15, 11:19 AM People have been waiting for ages for something like this. And when ever the issue is addressed in the forum, the question just seems to get ignored. I personally think Lenovo do it on purpose so their machines break so the customer has to pay them to fix it, wouldn't surprise me what so ever.
So is it a general rule or just for fans being used by Lenovo? :smileyhappy: I believe "100% all the time" is not accurate, unless someone is playing CPU/GPU 100%/100% all the time. As for the HP I have been using 2 HP notebooks, 8 years old for some casual gaming, and 6 year old for some more serious gaming. During gaming fans were always howling like a banshee so I could probably bet that they were running at 100%. And both notebooks still work fine, 6+ years sounds like a good fans lifespan to me:smileywink: --------------------------------- Lenovo Y510P, GT755M SLI FHD, I7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM, M550 512GB, Win8. 1
If you dont believe me just google it and you will find as much heat problems with those. I am an owner of Y510P SLI and I have minimal heat problems. --------------------------------- Current System - Lenovo Y720 Y720 REVIEW - Youtube Link (Opens in New Tab) If your experience was good today, please feel free to give KUDOS. Message 7 of 12 2014-07-16, 2:46 AM Also iDesign, specifically to you, appreciate that you got a good machine for half the price of what you would get from ASUS or DELL. Their laptops are as much prone to heat as Lenovo, not sure if you ever used one of them. Message 9 of 12 2014-07-16, 4:05 AM There is a fan on the left side. There is a GPU fan on the bottom is you have th ultrabay GPU installed. I will be cutting the brown wire to my fan and wiring a switch so I can choose fan speed for the cpu & gpu. I could rant about this all day due to the fact I paid £999 for a machine that's poorly manufactured. Fans have a lifespan and using them at 100% all the time is going to kill them sooner. The heat from Lenovo Y510p is reasonable, you need to maintain a cool environment to keep temps down. Cannot expect to run the laptop cool when you are gaming at high settings and your ambient temp is > 30 degree celsius. You guys need to buy a laptop cooler, use Air conditioning and keep graphics settings reasonable. If you say that ASUS or DELL or HP run cooler, please verify your facts. they all get as hot or even more than this Lenovo laptop.
